About

Alfie is a Phalène; a black, tan and white drop eared spaniel.

A Phalène is a sub-breed of Papillon, as Papillon have more upright and alert ears. The breed originates either from France or Spain depending on who you talk to. Alfie is a small dog being around 9 pounds (ish, Christmas time he may be a little more podgy), and he loves to be carried around.

For a small dog he is highly energetic and he can walk a good 5 miles in a day ; if you let him. He is very friendly and lives peacefully with the seven cats he shares his house with, his opinion on the cats though; is another matter entirely!

In all the time we have had Alfie, we have never met another Papillon. Right now I think he feels like Tigger, he is wonderful but sadly the only one! I am sure we will meet one someday.

  1. Hi Alfie,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and liking it enough to follow it. Looking forward to reading more about your adventures.
    Woof! Elsa

  2. G’Day Alfie, nice to meet you.
I like your blog and want to thank you for following mine, I hope you enjoy my stories.
I’ve never met a Papillon before, so I’m honoured to meet you – you are a good looking boy and my little Poppy would love you, as you are her size (she is a Shih-Tzu).

  3. Hi Barb. Nice to meet you to! and Thank you about calling me a ‘good looking boy’ most people think I am a girl. Even with a name like Alfie! Poppy sounds like a nice doggy, it is good to meet new friends from around the world!

  4. I can’t believe your peep fed a squirrel. Alfie, you must do something about that. No feeding squirrels. (I think they’re just rats with long furry tails.) I. Don’t. Like. Squirrels. But I’m glad you’re following my adventures. So, I thought I’d follow yours. I like looking at your towns, bridges, priorys and stuff.

    ArOOOOO! Stuart

    • My people like squirrels, but after they fed them I got to chase them! I just have to do what I am told. The sitting and waiting comes first, then the crazy running and barking after (the best bit). I am glad you are following me even after my Squirrel incident, I like your beard. Sometimes I wish I was more manly. I do get mistaken for a girl a few too many times. Perhaps I should go for a ‘radical’ hair cut!

  5. Alfie, It’s so great to meet you. Thanks so much for finding our blog and following us. Mom tells us we act more like dogs than kitties so I know we’ll all get along just great! In fact, our best friends are the two dogs that live by us. We used to have a doggie living in our house but she was really old and finally went over the Rainbow Bridge. We do miss her! Thanks again and purrs to you our friend!

    • Hi Hemingway and Shakespeare. I live with 7 cats so I know that doggies and kitties can get along just fine! I look forward to reading your blog and seeing your photo’s. I hope you like mine. 🙂

    • Wow! I do wish I’d meet one one day, but I can’t be picky there are so many dogs out there that need a home. Alfie is the first and only Pap I have ever seen, I din’t know they existed till I met him 😀

  6. Thank you for following my blog. I LOVE the adventures of Alfie, and look forward to hearing many more! Keep shining, Butterfly!

    • Thank you too!. I have a person who is interested in crochet and your whimsical and relaxed life seems fun! 😀 Especially with all your animal friends! xx

    • Hello Uncle Spike
I hope to read lots about your adventures. You get up to a lot more than I do, I haven’t even left the UK. I don’t think I will either. But there are lots of adventures I can have here, and I can read about places like yours and your adventures! Especially when I am left in the house when the people pop off to work. We all have to keep our minds busy somehow! You have a good day too 😀 Thanks Alfie x

  8. Alfie, you are quite the photogenic dude. I love your photos. Thanks for stopping by my site, and looking forward to reading about your future endeavors! I think Newton would like you to chase him.
