Lady Heyes

DSC_0230

Over this weekend two of my people and I went to a crafty/old things centre called Lady Heyes. It is a pretty little place a while away from our house in the car (as I know know the metal box is called). There is a caravan park not to far away so you get to meet lots of different people and lots of different doggies. Though in this instance we only met one doggy who wasn’t too fond of me so we shall say no more of that!

DSC_0216[1]

We had a mosey round at all of the oddments, which took a blooming long while! I tell you my people can look at things for far too long sometimes.

There were all sort of things, tea cups, watches, jewelry, mirrors, picnic baskets, cushions, ornaments … all sorts to be honest. Though not many dog friendly things.

DSC_0224

There was a nice cushion though and my people bought it for me to go in the car so I can have a kip on car journeys and have something to put my head on. I am a pampered pooch you know.

DSC_0231

It is quite fun to get sniffing in to all of these things, especially some of the old furs (my people don’t like them much) but I loved the smell of them.

There were baskets, and cake shops and a record shop and all sorts. I was loved and cuddled and fussed and even kissed! by quite a few different people.

DSC_0239

As you can see I do love to meet new friends.  After looking around for a few hours we stopped off at the chip shop to grab some grub! I am not normally allowed chips but I stole a little piece and make a stupid face. Who takes a photo of some one when they are eating? The horror!

DSC_0256

Anyway, it was nice and a little bit different. I like being able to go to places with my people, I don’t like being left alone, it is boring.

(Note from Human)

It is a great place to go to if you are into your vintage things or just cake. The only place that dogs aren’t allowed is the cafe which I guess I can understand. Still it is a nice place to go for an afternoon.

Jealous

Why do cats get all the boxes? I know boxes are a cat thing, but for once in a while I’d like to sit in a box.

Perhaps it will make them like me more if I start sitting in boxes too.  Skally is king of the cats and has all the boxes first. It’s not fair.

63883_4983874082998_2115139272_n

Well I rebelled against it and stole that box! For dog kind! We like boxes too, especially ones you can just fit your bum in. They make nice chew toys and good hiding places.

Though I had to give it up eventually, it was too small for me to sleep in. I tried though, I will just have to keep to sitting in them and ripping them apart and eating the pieces. Who says dogs can’t like boxes?

Blackberry Picking

P1060834

Is is officially the end of summer basically and the blackberries are out in force!

P1060837

I don’t really like blackberries to be honest, strawberries are an altogether different thing though. But my people didn’t take me strawberry picking, they took me blackberry picking.  So we walked down our usual route till we found the ‘bestest spot ever’, according to them.

P1060832

We stopped, dropped our stuff ans starting picking. What I learned is that people seem to be hurt by the plants, I stuck my face in them like usual and they didn’t do a thing!  Does any other doggy get stung by nettles? I know my ear fluff gets caught in the brambles and I have to bark to let my people know, so that they can come and untangle me.

P1060822

Well I had fun running around and playing with the cut grass. My people picked a whole tub full of blackberries, their hands got covered in pink stuff

+and so did my leg! I was pink for a little bit, till they washed it off. I don’t really want to be pink, I’d like to be white please.

P1060839

Boring

I have had such a boring week this week! We haven’t been anywhere different or anything fun.

Yes  I have had my favorite chews, and tripe sticks and the cats are nice enough to be around, (Bubbles is warm and fluffy), but I do wish my people could be here all the time.  What else can you do when they aren’t around?

My people have been working a lot this past week, I still get my walkies and I am still fed and played with, I just miss them a bit too much. They are my people I love them.  I show them I love them by wedging my head in between their legs till they cuddle me.

1175_10200394587415627_1655214658_n

They did promise that we’d go out this weekend though 😀

Verdin Park

After all these outing this weekend my people decided to relax a bit and just take me to our local park, I haven’t been for ages!  So pop down the road along the main road. I have to behave here and walk along side my person, or I get told off. Something to do with cars and me being squished, but lets not think of that.

P1060315

Then up on to the walkway above all of the cars. The park is on a big hill so you can watch the little people down below.

Anyway we walked along the walkway and on the left are a set of steps. A big set of steps, I had to bloody well jump up every step as though it was a hurdle! My person should have carried me, that is what they are for right?

P1060329

So up the steps and along quite a cute little path with benches (for the people tired from walking up them steps!) , and up and along.

P1060496

You get to quite a good field where you can have a run and a play. We met two big Weimaraner doggies, which I had a good little play with but I wasn’t to happy when one stepped on my tail and pulled out some fluff! That is my fluff we are talking about, why would they do such a thing. I wouldn’t play after that, the insult!

P1060489

When they had left, I had a ‘mad half hour’ as my people call it. Basically I have a thing about running wildly in circles around my person. It is just sooooooo much fun to feel the wind in your fluff. I mean look at that photo, doesn’t it seem great to you!

P1060339

We walked past some big guy, he was green and funny looking. I am told he was and old man that did some stuff for the town. Supposedly he brought  a human vets to town. Why you’d make a pretend him I don’t know. People are funny things.

Then it was back down the other side of the hill to the main gates of the park. (Aren’t they pretty?) There were that many flowers I had to have a sniff and a little wee (I bet the gardens don’t like me now).

P1060507

It was out the gates and back home after that. I did enjoy my day, and fortunately there was no lasting damage to my tail fluff.

P1060491x

Beeston Castle

P1060134

Beeston Castle is well a castle supposedly. All I was told is that some old guy may have buried some treasure here a very long time ago.  Though it wasn’t bones or chews so I don’t care really. Anyway, to get to the castle we first had to walk up a gigantic hill! A monster hill, the hill of all hills, basically a mountain for a short dog like me, I think I came down a few centimeters shorter too!

P1060166Halfway up we had to have a rest as my person isn’t the fittest of people, even the young skinny one agreed to a rest. I wanted to get going and get to the top as soon as possible so we could have our picnic.

P1060179

(Nearly there! There was a big ditch which I was going to walk down, but my people handily told me we could walk over a bridge)

P1060185

Once we got to the bridge and the main bit of the castle, (after our mountaineering) we had to have a look at where we had been. It is compulsory I tell you. (My people think this was the best photo of the day) I think they should rename the castle to Alfie’s castle, I mean how good do I look sat there on that bridge.

So we entered and had a walk around looking at the views and wondering what idiots would have tried to attack here. You can see for miles and miles. You can see the sea about 30 miles away and the mountain in Wales. That is a whole different country!

P1060204

I wasn’t allowed on the wall to see above it but I was told it was nice.

P1060172

Then after a while we had to stop I had hurt my paw and was limping a little. I was trying to tell my people there was something wrong but they couldn’t see it! They bend and twisted my paw but that wasn’t the problem, the silly things. So they let me carry on walking for a while till we sat down for a rest and they had another look. They found it this time! Some people had been cutting down plant on top of the hill and I had unknowingly stood on the head of a thistle OWCH! It was untangled from my foot fluff and I was happy once more.

P1060213

It was time for our picnic. My people had brought me my own special supply of ham and chicken, they ate more funky stuffs.

P1060245

Then it was back to the walking to walk around the base of the castle, we saw the caves and the catacombs and some scary thing I wouldn’t go into.

P1060214

It was time to go after all that walking, the castle was nice, but the hill of hills wasn’t.

It is nice to be able to go to places, with my people. If there are anymore doggy friendly places I’d like to know.

FoAM Picnic and Meeting Lula

“It is often said that the Papillon is a big dog in a little dog’s body. They can do virtually all that a larger dog can do, but with less effort, upkeep, and space requirements” I don’t remember where I found this quote but I liked it. Anyway …. I recently went to a musical picnic with my family, and a friend of theirs. This is Lula (or Talula if you want her full name), she is a fuzzy little Miniature  Schnauzer.

P1050993

I met Lula after just getting out of teeny metal box, and she was a little grumpy, and had a good bark at me. I ignored her and was ready to go and get walking! We didn’t walk too far till everyone stopped and decided it was resting time! (That was a quick walk I tell you!) My people set our a mat and started getting out a lot of food. So I didn’t mind the stopping so early in to my walk.

P1050973

We just sat and had a nice something to eat whilst my people chatted and I met other doggies. Lula was nice although she looked more like a boy than I do with that beard, I think she was jealous of my pretty looks.

She barked a little too much too, there was no need to keep woofing, I was slightly embarrassed to tell the truth. And my people LIKED her. That isn’t fair I say, they are my people, you can’t just go stealing my people.

P1050908

Anyway she sat at one end of the mat and I sat at the other end. The picnic included Bacon, which was great, did I tell you how good bacon is? Well it’s good. After my bacon (and some strawberries). We went on a little walk around the area, it was a nice stretch and to walk off some one the bacon podge I am sure I had put on. I did feel a little better when her person told her that she wasn’t allowed any of the nice foods, because if she ate them she wouldn’t eat her doggy biscuits.

P1050932

With music playing and quite a few dogs about. I made a few new friends, and so did my people. It was a good day, the music was a bit strange but there seemed to be a lot going on.

P1050927

The park is a nice place to be but we shall save the rest of it for another day, today was picnic day.

Ed

Contrary to popular belief (don’t I sound posh?) Ed is actually a girl AND I am actually a boy. I wish people would stop telling me I am a pretty girl, it does knock a boys confidence you know.

33498_416454391649_2619144_n

Anyway Ed is a girl; a grumpy, skinny, sassy girl.  She has a right attitude on her, and she eats soooooooo much for a skinny cat! If I ate that much I’d be a chubby puppy. She isn’t too fond of me but I like to sniff her bottom, it smells quite good in a morning I do tell you.

A tabby cat with a little white chin, I must admit she is a pretty little thing.

8058_117782408366896_1126144284_n

She wont play though no matter who tries; person or doggy, she wont play. She also has a really annoying meow, it isn’t really a meow more like a grouch? drawl? croak? I can’t describe it really. She was the most recent addition to the family before I came along, and was found not far from where we live I am told.

I like Ed but She doesn’t like me!

(Note from Human)

Ed was found at the back of a Chinese takeaway about 1/4 of a mile from our house.  She lived with the black bin bags and ate from them. A friend of ours found her and asked if we could take her. With 6 cats already we thought it might be a stretch but as soon as we saw her we just couldn’t say no.

She was named after a rescue cat from the Mann Cat Sanctuary (website here http://www.manncat.com/)

Little Ed was a female one eyed tabby who still got around and loved life, although sadly that was a few years ago and I believe she has passed on. After seeing the ‘Chinese cat’ and looking at how familiar they looked, we knew what we had to call her.

She is a strange little thing. She is so tiny, no matter how much she eats. She will not play if you are watching and she hates her feet being touched. But the saddest bit of them all is that she likes black plastic bin bags. If we leave one out waiting to put something in it, or even if there is a full one about, she will sit on it and go to sleep. No matter what baskets or cushions or beds, she will choose to sit on the bin bags. They must be a comfort to her, a little quirk she can’t let go form her past life. She knew they were a safe place and one where she could find food; the poor little thing.

Now she is as ‘happy as a clam’ and loves to be with you. You can shout her name and she will purr, she just wants to sit next to you and appreciate your company.

Ed you are odd but we love you.

Bubbles Brown

As you may know I live with a lot of Cats. And I have decided it is time to introduce you to Bubbles. Bubbles is the eldest in our little animal kingdom being 13 years old.

P1020068My people tell me he had nasty flu as a kitten and a ‘heart murmur’, supposedly his heart literally skips a beat! He is daft, docile and loves a big cuddle as much as I do! He used to love running round the house and playing with that annoying red dot thing, but now her prefers a nice relaxing potter about the garden and bathing in the sun.

To be honest although Katie isn’t the nicest of cats I do like bubbles, possibly … a little. Okay okay you go me! I like him enough to cuddle up with him and eat with him and even let him give me a little cat bath. I know he is nearly ten years older than me, and a cat. But I don’t care!

(Note from Human)

Bubbles came with his sister Sway, (whom Alfie will introduce soon). They were millennium kittens and a member of the family couldn’t look after them anymore and who were we to say no! They have been a part of my life for such a long time I can’t imagine it without them. He is such a calm cat compared to his sister, he will quite happy sit on your shoulder as you carry him round the house talking to him. He just wants a love, a fuss and a bit of grub.

He was a kitten of cat flu we believe (to be honest we aren’t sure). But when he came to us he had fought his way through it. He does have a heart murmur, and recently in his older years he has ended up with allergies (something like hay fever but for cats).

Bubbles you may snot in our face, our food and on our clothes; and you may be becoming slightly incontinent. But we love you none the less!

Pop to Chester

My youngest person recently went to Chester for her driving theory test.

We went via train, which is a big horrible metal box which makes horrible noises and wobbles horribly and there are horrible smelly people, and it is big and scary. I didn’t want my photo taken on the train and my people were trying to console me a little. Either way when we got off I was okay.  We walked to the test centre and dropped of the youngest and went off for our walkies along the Chester canal.

P1050550At first it was all very urban and not the prettiest of walks, but as long as my legs  are moving I don’t mind.  There were also a lot of cyclists, my person got angry with a lot of them for not using their bell and warning her of their existence, (She isn’t polite when I am in danger).

P1050543We went under the bridge and continued.

There were some lovely houses we got to right on the bank of the canal, they had little boats moored outside, and we waved to the people in their garden as we walked past.

P1050546We only had a 20 minute walk and we had to turn back, because my person wanted to  be there when the youngest came out from the test centre.

So we sat and waited with bated breath.

P1050557She came out with a folded piece of paper. All she had to do was open it to see if she had passed. Turns out she had and we were to spend the rest of the day celebrating!

So it was on to lunch and a mini picnic in Grosvenor Park in the middle of the city.

P1050583

I have never been before and neither had the youngest person so we were amazed to find an abundance of squirrels. I was very good and I didn’t chase one at all!

I was surprised to watch the little blighters walk right up to my people and start asking for food! That is my job! P1050568

I don’t like the sneaky things. But when I was told to sit and watch and sat and watched.

Eventually one the food was gone and we were ready to go I was allowed to bark at one of them.

Then it was on to the wall! There is a big wall in Chester you can walk across, with the youngest person never having been on it and me neither. My oldest decided it would be nice to have a look. P1050592

P1050594The view was quite nice especially with it being a quiet day in Chester, I was asked if I would like to continue our walkies ( Below is the face I made).

P1050595

P1050614

We had a walk around and my people had a little shop around. Being cute and fluffy as long as they asked I was let into quite a few shops!

Some I had to be carried round in but I didn’t mind.

After a very long day it was back to that horrible box. But really it wasn’t that horrible I even got my own  seat this time and I had a kip on the way home.
