Sorry To See You Go

We are now well and truly out of the Christmas period, all the decorations have left leaving the house looking very bare. However worst of all, is the fact that on Christmas Eve my dear old friend Bubbles got ill, he was taken to the emergency vets, who gave him some antibiotics, however he got worse Christmas Day and by Boxing Day he couldn’t even swallow his medicine. He just lay there on the cushion and never moved.

My people said that he wasn’t very well and that we should say goodbye to him. I gave him a sniff and a lick and that was that. My Daddy and eldest person took him in the carrier the next morning and I never saw him again. I was told he went to the kitty and puppy heaven and I would see him again some day. I miss him a little, I have a look on the chair he used to sit on sometimes but he isn’t there. Sway his sister was sad for a few days too, she wanted cuddles a lot more than usual.

I don’t like it when people leave, I wish they didn’t. The house seems a little empty without him there, but I have other friends and family to be with me.

Bye Bye Bubbles. xxx

Sleepover

Over the weekend I had a great sleepover! Though we didn’t get any sleeping done ūüôā

My bestest buddy and cousin Joe came to stay. Joe is a Labrador Collie cross which means he is MILES bigger than me. We met when I was a puppy and have been friends ever since. He is a few years older but I don’t know how many and I can tell you is is GREAT! Though his mummy and daddy are really strict. They weigh his food out, take him on timed walks, even measure what comes out the other end. My people are a little bit more¬†uninhibited about those kinds of things.

P1070254

He also isn’t allowed treats, or at least he has special not fattening doggy ones. I think it is a bit sad, he only lives with the two people who are away a lot. I think he enjoys coming to our house for a crazy few days.

P1070275

So we play, we walk and we don’t stop for ages! He is very nice to me I keep putting my bum fluff in his face and sticking my tail on his head. My favourite game is to jump on the sofa…. way it up … and then dive off in an amazing fashion putting my front paws in Joe’s face ūüėÄ He doesn’t seem to mind to much he just grunts and sign and lets me get on with it.

P1070263

He is more fun when we are let outside to race up and down my garden. Though he went for a very big wee and I just happened to run underneath him at that specific time and I got widdle all over me. I had an impromptu bath! Well a quick wash anyway. He stayed all day and all night. I normally love going to bed an sleep for ages, but you can’t do that when your friend is round. So it was sneaky plays and snuffles all night! Oh how much you can annoy people with squeaky toys.

P1070241

After all that playing we have to have a quick nap … we need to be ready for the next round you know.

(I am sorry to say the Christmas tree is up already! Not decorated though … just up)

The Dreaded Vets!

Yesterday I had a surprise trip in the car, I thought we were going to the park … maybe visiting family, or perhaps going to the pet shop. No! I wasn’t going to any of those nice places. I was being taken to the VETS! Now all pets know of this nasty place. The last time I was there the vets almost killed me! My people weren’t happy at all. Still I am told every year I need to get my injections.

I went into the reception and we were told to have a seat. I sat on my person’s knee trembling, she was nice and comforted me. I felt a bit better when I met a little Schnauzer, we had a little chat but then went back to our own people.

Eventually I was called in. I was plonked unceremoniously on to a black table and as I tried to hide in my persons coat I was dragged out again by a person I had never met before! I was manhandled and poked and prodded and the vet looked at my person and said ‘he looks like a Papillon but he is a little big’. The man was doubting what I am. My person told we do have the certificate saying I was a Pap, and that I wasn’t wanted because of a few defects, but my people didn’t realise size was one of them nor did I. They all agree it doesn’t matter what I am, they love me none the less. (I felt so loved then :D)

After all of that he then took a HUGE and I mean Huge! Okay quite a small needle, and proceeded to jab me with it. I screamed in pain and it made the vet jump and pull the needle out to quick! I didn’t go to bite him I didn’t even turn my head towards him I just squeaked. The stupid man then had to finish what was left in the needle else I would have been done properly. I was stabbed twice!

I was taken away and then another car journey later we were i the pet shop. I was allowed ¬†to pick my favorite chew which I carried to the car on my own. So it cancelled it all out. I hope you all don’t have nasty vets stories but I bet you do, silly vets.

Carey Park

Carey Park is a little car journey away from our house. It is a nice little park which was once like a big cat litter tray. All I know is my dad can’t smoke there because of gases being released from the ground. (My person says it was once a Victorian landfill but is now quite a pretty park) So he was left at home the grumpy so and so, I bet he didn’t want to come because of the wind. (He had never liked wind). ¬†Anyway as soon as we arrived I made friends with a powder puff doggy! She was all white and fluffy like me, just a little bigger. She then went one way round the circuit and I went round the other.¬†

DSC_0295

It was a bit of a dreary day, being all soggy and cold. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Running around in puddles is great, though these puddles were sandy rather than muddy, which wasn’t as fun as I had thought. I wasn’t as dirty as I could have been. I must try harder next time.

DSC_0303

We sat and watched a boat go by as the weather started to improve. It was getting a little warmer but the wind wasn’t getting any better! It was blowing my fur all different ways.

DSC_0322¬†Lucky I had my coat on or I think I’d have frozen! The circuit took us away from the river and closer to the fields.

DSC_0313

We passed by a one full of cows, which I was quite interested in. I have met cows before and they liked me so why shouldn’t these? I wanted to introduce myself but my person wouldn’t let me … spoil sport I was meant to be making friends. Instead I was put back on my lead and we walked past. It wasn’t all bad though, we met another little doggy along the road.

DSC_0330

Eventually we finished the circuit, which was good because the wind had got worse I was in fear of being bowled over. We had a short trundle to the car where I was wrapped in a towel, and dried off before being stuck in the back with my seat belt.

Then it was off home for some tea and a nap. I liked the park but that wind can get a little scary when you are small.

Halloween Fun!

With Halloween coming pretty soon my people decided that I was going to be knitted an outfit. I am used to my outfits. I like my coats in the winter and I use my high visibility jacket when I need to be seen. (Being small can sometimes means I could get stepped on) I have been know to dress as Santa Paws and I was a wizard. This year however my people had the marvelous idea that I was to be a PUMPKIN.

1375184_10202475883326724_1361966868_n

Halloween is great. I get to sit on the back of the sofa and bark at all the children coming up our path. I just love it! I don’t mind wearing a silly outfit, the cats hate it though. But there are some funny photo’s taken from them.

They also cut faces out out the pumpkins and put a light in them. I think they are meant to be scary but I can tell you that they taste pretty nice and I have licked them a few times. (Don’t tell the people, they weren’t eating them so I thought I’d have a go).

What are you doing for Halloween?

Marbury Park

After a mini journey in the mini car, I got out and was at the PARK! Not the little park we visit all the time but the big park. The one always full of people, things to do and things to smell. It wasn’t five minutes before I found a brilliant batch of rabbit poop I had to be pulled away from. It was a shame I could have stayed there for ages. Still I had a walkies to get to.

P1060918

It is a nice wooded area that leads to a mere and a canal. So there are a lot of ducks about, sometimes I like duck but these were big ducks so we stayed well away from them. Our walk in the woods continued, I wanted it to be peaceful but there were so many people, we had to go a different way than our usual walk to stay away from them.

P1060937

There were just too many cyclists and children on their scooters, I was going to be squished if they weren’t careful! We found the place we were looking for which was quieter with only a few walkers and their dogs. Much less dangerous for a a mini pooch like me. My person got a little angry, I wont tell you what she said about them it wasn’t suitable for a young pooches ears.

P1060959

We came across the canal which is just a few miles up from where I live and we had a wander along there. We eventually turned back and went the way we came. I ended up with a few conkers in my fluff so we had to stop whilst they were plucked out. I can tell you there was a lot of pinching and poking going on.¬†Conkers aren’t fun. They are spiky and mean.¬†P1070053

After doing the long circuit I was allowed a play in the grass with a few friends. My person was taking photos and happened to snap a funny one. I am not too fond of it I am meant to be a dog! Not a rabbit hybrid¬†thingamajig. Still it made everyone laugh so I guess I don’t mind. It is good making your people smile.

Arches

This weekend we went for a nice slow trundle along the arches. The family had come up on the Saturday and my buddy Joe was there too! I was so tired all of Saturday all I needed was a little walk on Sunday.¬†DSC_0234It was later in the day so the sun was setting and and people must have been inside eating their Sunday dinner because we didn’t meet anyone. (Ours was still being cooked). We went across both rivers and walked past the pub, and on toward the arches.

DSC_0239

We would have stopped at the pub but we were going home to our tea, so we stayed away.

DSC_0255

We went past the funky waterfall thing (my person said it is called a weir and stops the river from flooding the town). I don’t particularly like being near it, it makes a horrible wooshy, crashy noise, which is really loud and scary. But we don’t linger long, so it is okay.

DSC_0250

We get as far as they arches and they are huge! The trains go across them and I used to be a bit scared but now they aren’t too bad. I guess I go used to them. Trains are still scary though, the big rumbly metal things.

DSC_0272

Still we go along the walk and keep walking till we get to a dog training area. My people and I used this area to teach me to be off lead. It was a nice place and I wanted to go back and have a look, but I wasn’t allowed as someone was using it and I would have distracted the other doggy there.

DSC_0275

So instead I had a sniff around at the leaves, I found something really smelly, though I don’t know what it was it was nice. I stayed there for about 5 minutes before I wanted to carry on walking.

DSC_0279

We trundled back home, keeping the pace nice and slow. It was only a little adventure, though it was a nice one.

Hopefully this weekend we can go on a bigger adventure!

Mud and Muck

Summer has definitely ended, and with Autumn brings the rain, and with the rain comes the mud! Being a short dog, I am of course closer to the ground which means I get mud everywhere!

P1060843

It ends up in my armpits in my tail fluff, bum fluff, on my feet, up my chest, in my ear fluff. Anywhere close enough gets covered. This walk down near our river was where I first met mud and puddles.

P1060844

At first I absolutely hated it. I would walk round puddles, and would never dream of walking through anything so dirty.

I still have a little bit of that left in me, if there is a choice to go round or jump over I will. I have made a few mistakes in my life trying to jump over a puddle and ended up in them (which I am not too happy about)

P1060865

Every now and then though you just have to walk right through the middle of a nice brown mush! It does feel nice and cool on your feet when it is warm. It is just normally when it is muddy it isn’t warm and I don’t need extra cold by getting muddy feet! At least for now the mud is minimal, I am hoping winter isn’t too mushy though. ¬†I am happy as a clam without the muddy puddles, fox poop is much nicer to roll in!

P1060878After our little walk we came home and found that the mum and dad out the house, had started the garden cutting! Right now I can’t go up there.

There are too many dangerous things for a little doggy. With cutters and big sticks and all horrible saws! Still they say it makes it look pretty in Summer again, so I guess I don’t mind.

P1060887

Well winter is on its way, and I hope it isn’t too cold.

How muddy do you get?

Lady Heyes

DSC_0230

Over this weekend two of my people and I went to a crafty/old things centre called Lady Heyes. It is a pretty little place a while away from our house in the car (as I know know the metal box is called). There is a caravan park not to far away so you get to meet lots of different people and lots of different doggies. Though in this instance we only met one doggy who wasn’t too fond of me so we shall say no more of that!

DSC_0216[1]

We had a mosey round at all of the oddments, which took a blooming long while! I tell you my people can look at things for far too long sometimes.

There were all sort of things, tea cups, watches, jewelry, mirrors, picnic baskets, cushions, ornaments … all sorts to be honest. Though not many dog friendly things.

DSC_0224

There was a nice cushion though and my people bought it for me to go in the car so I can have a kip on car journeys and have something to put my head on. I am a pampered pooch you know.

DSC_0231

It is quite fun to get sniffing in to all of these things, especially some of the old furs (my people don’t like them much) but I loved the smell of them.

There were baskets, and cake shops and a record shop and all sorts. I was loved and cuddled and fussed and even kissed! by quite a few different people.

DSC_0239

As you can see I do love to meet new friends.  After looking around for a few hours we stopped off at the chip shop to grab some grub! I am not normally allowed chips but I stole a little piece and make a stupid face. Who takes a photo of some one when they are eating? The horror!

DSC_0256

Anyway, it was nice and a little bit different. I like being able to go to places with my people, I don’t like being left alone, it is boring.

(Note from Human)

It is a great place to go to if you are into your vintage things or just cake. The only place that dogs aren’t allowed is the cafe which I guess I can understand. Still it is a nice place to go for an afternoon.

Jealous

Why do cats get all the boxes? I know boxes are a cat thing, but for once in a while I’d like to sit in a box.

Perhaps it will make them like me more if I start sitting in boxes too. ¬†Skally is king of the cats and has all the boxes first. It’s not fair.

63883_4983874082998_2115139272_n

Well I rebelled against it and stole that box! For dog kind! We like boxes too, especially ones you can just fit your bum in. They make nice chew toys and good hiding places.

2

Though I had to give it up eventually, it was too small for me to sleep in. I tried though, I will just have to keep to sitting in them and ripping them apart and eating the pieces. Who says dogs can’t like boxes?
