Sway Not Squeak

Sway is a camouflaged ninja cat!

She is a funny colour so when she hides in the bushes you can’t see her and  she can whack you before you even know she is there! Sneaky eh?

555551_117782351700235_1315090417_n

She is Bubbles’ sister (I mean … I know we are all brother and sister but, these two came as a set). A matching pair of felines.  She was supposed to be called Squeak I think… so we had a Bubbles and Squeak like the grub, but somehow that got lost in translation I guess so she ended up as Sway.  A bit of a funny name if you ask me but cats can be like that, and I guess it isn’t as bad as ‘Excalibur’. Still the name stuck, personally like Alfie better but hey ho.

P1020048

To be honest she doesn’t really care for me. No matter how much I try to play or even if I sit next to her, she doesn’t want to know me. She just put her nose in the air and walks off.

Her ear is a little bit ripped, the people tell me it was because a big monster tried to attack the house and she saved everyone. But I spoke to Bubbles and he said he did it to her when they were kittens.

I even tried to chase her but NOTHING, she just sits there and stares. Only If I do something wrong or if I am asleep does she do anything, which is when I want to be left alone! I don’t like it when she sits in my basket though. That isn’t fair she has all the baskets and the cat stools and can even get up on top of this I would never reach! Yet she chooses my basket.

She is an old girl and likes to be with her mummy all the time, which is nice enough.

She is a bit scary, and she gets away with everything, so I will leave it at that!

Attack!

On Saturday I was quite happily walking to the mini supermarket with two of my people. We wanted some lunch before we went on our adventure. Instead halfway down the street, my people noticed a loose dog near the main road. We stopped as, they can not let an animal get hurt, and he would have been hit by a car if left. But before anyone could do anything, he saw me and came running.

I was in his MOUTH! Then I was in the air. One of my people had picked me up and the other had dragged the dog away. Once he had been taken away and the man had come to check if everything was okay, which my people told him it was and he could go now. So he left.

Two other people had heard my screams and came running to me. I was checked over by everyone, and they found blood! Panic set in and they frantically tired to find out what was wrong. I tired to tell them I was okay; scared but not hurt.  They only got the idea when they all found the blood was coming from one of their fingers. The dog had tried to get me but my lovely, amazing person had put her hand in the way.

I was asked to sit down and given some ham and a cuddle. That made it all better and in about 2 minutes flat, I was okay and none the worse for wear. Ham makes thing better you know.

We carried on to the supermarket, and one person waited while the other pop in. On the way home we met a very cute Boxer puppy, I had a good play and all was well. I know all dogs aren’t scary, it is just every now and again you meet the odd nasty one and that shouldn’t make you fear everything. Also a good play with your monkey toy sorts most things.

(Note from Human)

Little Alfie did get attacked this weekend. My sister and I fancied some lunch and decided rather than take the car, we would both go together and walk Alfie in the process before I continued on towards our adventure. We got a few hundred metres out of our house before we both spotted a loose dog. Brown and white about 3 ft in height he was a big doggy. He was just sniffing around and seeing as we were so close to the main road I was worried. I had passed Alfie across to my sister (lucky I did that) and before either of us knew what was happening, the dog had charged.

I thought he was headed for my sister, only too late did I realise he was going for Alfie. The dog had him in his mouth before I knew it and Alfie was screaming like I have never heard him scream before. My sister had managed to kick the dog and wrench Alfie from his mouth, and pick him up above her. But the dog kept going, he was trying to climb her to get to him. I grabbed hold of the dogs tail (the only thing I could reach at this point in time) and pulled him off them both, got his collar gave it a short sharp tug, told him in a stern voice to stop, and it was over.

A small girl dressed in pink, had come round the corner, it was her family’s dog. She was poping to the same shop when he escaped, he was too big for her and shoved her aside out of the gate and free. There was no way she could take it back home. So I offered, I had no bad feeling towards the dog, it was the bloody people controlling him. And how could I be angry at a girl, who was probably lighter than the dog. I took him as far as the gate and put him inside. A man came out, he was obviously worried about his dog, (he had escaped near a main road, who wouldn’t be) . When I told him what had happened he look heart broken, he said he knew he was a dog aggressive dog and had his lead and muzzle to hand. He came and looked at Alfie and was glad he wasn’t hurt. We parted ways and though not more of it.

Then I saw my sisters hand, the dog had got to her trying to get to Alfie. In that instance I felt as though I had failed miserably, I hadn’t protected my younger sister, or my dog. But they were both okay and we carried on.

On the way home we met a lovely puppy, he was a lanky baby Boxer, he played with Alfie and Alfie played with him. It was nice to see he wasn’t put off other dogs at all. The next day we continued on our Sunday walkies as if nothing had happened, we met his normal friends and he seemed fine.

It did raise questions though. The dog bit my sister. Yes because she put her hand near it’s mouth, and in the way of Alfie,  and for the size of the dog it was a very small bite. But a bite is a bite. At the time we both just wanted out of the situation as soon as possible, so left as soon as we knew Alfie was okay. But should we have reported it? Who should we have reported it to? It was a dog on dog attack so not illegal, or breaking any law. But what if I was on my own? What if it was one of the children that walk their dogs along that stretch of road all too often? It could have been so much worse, but it wasn’t.

I just don’t know what to do.

Anyway next week we will continue on our adventures.

Excalibur and Quinevere.

299669_10200417986840598_387476012_n

What silly names for cats! I much prefer their usual names Skall and Quin. Well these two are brother and sister, they came as a set, like Bubbles and Sway but younger. My people say they are the most ‘aloof’ (whatever that means) because they have had a good life from a very young age. Skall is the silver Tabby and Quin is the white odd eyed cat. They are both 9 years old now, and don’t really show their age much.

553550_117787108366426_940594077_n

These two like me the least! I can understand with Quin, she is partially blind so perhaps a bigger happy barking doggy would be scary. Skall on the other hand is the monster cat. He is the ‘top dog’ of the house. A mean lean fighting machine, he has been known to escape the house, walk across the road, find their cat and beat it up in it’s own garden, to return happily and go to sleep in his basket.

528611_117787068366430_351594873_n

He sits on top of the kitchen cabinets and stares at you. It is a little bit creepy if I am honest. Them big golden eyes all scary and big. He is a fussy eater too! I love food ALL the time, but he decides that one day he doesn’t want chicken and wont eat his food. He wants fish instead, and he wont eat anything till you get him that fish. I think that is a little rude, the people are nice giving us tasty things, we should love them for it. Not turn our little posh noses up and walk away.

604163_208510495960753_1024364432_n

Quin likes to sit in one of them snood thing and hiss at anything that goes past (especially me).

(She also looks a bit like a demon in some photo’s)

313696_117787248366412_1605506118_n

I like Bubbles better he is nicer to me.

(Note from Human)

These were the only two cats we have had from kittens and by gum you can tell they aren’t rescues. They are the King and Queen of our own little house, and they do let you know. Skall has more than once got out of the house and beat up neighbors cats, so we made the decision to make them all house cats who go out on a lead in the garden every now and then.

Quin … well she is just Quin. Loves a bum scratch and a chin tickle, and is never frightened of fireworks or lightening. She likes to play with the shapes and shadows whilst sitting in the window. It must be to do with the fact she can’t hear the noises properly, seeing as everyone else is scared.

Quin and Skall we love you even if you seem to just about tolerate us.

Lady Heyes

DSC_0230

Over this weekend two of my people and I went to a crafty/old things centre called Lady Heyes. It is a pretty little place a while away from our house in the car (as I know know the metal box is called). There is a caravan park not to far away so you get to meet lots of different people and lots of different doggies. Though in this instance we only met one doggy who wasn’t too fond of me so we shall say no more of that!

DSC_0216[1]

We had a mosey round at all of the oddments, which took a blooming long while! I tell you my people can look at things for far too long sometimes.

There were all sort of things, tea cups, watches, jewelry, mirrors, picnic baskets, cushions, ornaments … all sorts to be honest. Though not many dog friendly things.

DSC_0224

There was a nice cushion though and my people bought it for me to go in the car so I can have a kip on car journeys and have something to put my head on. I am a pampered pooch you know.

DSC_0231

It is quite fun to get sniffing in to all of these things, especially some of the old furs (my people don’t like them much) but I loved the smell of them.

There were baskets, and cake shops and a record shop and all sorts. I was loved and cuddled and fussed and even kissed! by quite a few different people.

DSC_0239

As you can see I do love to meet new friends.  After looking around for a few hours we stopped off at the chip shop to grab some grub! I am not normally allowed chips but I stole a little piece and make a stupid face. Who takes a photo of some one when they are eating? The horror!

DSC_0256

Anyway, it was nice and a little bit different. I like being able to go to places with my people, I don’t like being left alone, it is boring.

(Note from Human)

It is a great place to go to if you are into your vintage things or just cake. The only place that dogs aren’t allowed is the cafe which I guess I can understand. Still it is a nice place to go for an afternoon.

Jealous

Why do cats get all the boxes? I know boxes are a cat thing, but for once in a while I’d like to sit in a box.

Perhaps it will make them like me more if I start sitting in boxes too.  Skally is king of the cats and has all the boxes first. It’s not fair.

63883_4983874082998_2115139272_n

Well I rebelled against it and stole that box! For dog kind! We like boxes too, especially ones you can just fit your bum in. They make nice chew toys and good hiding places.

2

Though I had to give it up eventually, it was too small for me to sleep in. I tried though, I will just have to keep to sitting in them and ripping them apart and eating the pieces. Who says dogs can’t like boxes?

Blackberry Picking

P1060834

Is is officially the end of summer basically and the blackberries are out in force!

P1060837

I don’t really like blackberries to be honest, strawberries are an altogether different thing though. But my people didn’t take me strawberry picking, they took me blackberry picking.  So we walked down our usual route till we found the ‘bestest spot ever’, according to them.

P1060832

We stopped, dropped our stuff ans starting picking. What I learned is that people seem to be hurt by the plants, I stuck my face in them like usual and they didn’t do a thing!  Does any other doggy get stung by nettles? I know my ear fluff gets caught in the brambles and I have to bark to let my people know, so that they can come and untangle me.

P1060822

Well I had fun running around and playing with the cut grass. My people picked a whole tub full of blackberries, their hands got covered in pink stuff

+and so did my leg! I was pink for a little bit, till they washed it off. I don’t really want to be pink, I’d like to be white please.

P1060839

Bath Time

Seeing as I haven’t been for a big outing in a while, I have somehow managed to go without a bath for two weeks. Hahaha people, how did you not notice?

But yesterday my person picked me up for a cuddle, and had to put me back down again with a funny look on her face.

I have been brushed every couple of days or so, so my fluff is lovely and pretty, just a little pongy.

My person called it “cheesy feet” because my little doggy feet smell. Personally I am quite fond of the cheesy, foot smell, you should smell my dad’s socks. They are fabulously cheesy!

Enough with the cheese I am getting hungry.

P1060549

(Look at me, no matter what face I made my person was determined to make me clean!)

I was kidnapped by my person and plonked quite ungracefully in the bath. I get showered and then the shampoo appears. It is all smelly and frothy, and squishy, it gets rubbed all over to make my fluff nice and my feet smell pretty.

P1060606

After a long rinse to get the soap out of the fluff. I get to jump out of the bath and run madly round the house as my people try to catch me towel dry me.

P1060680

(I really want to escape from the bathroom)

I like to dry myself on the carpet. Carpet is great for drying yourself on.

P1060740

Eventually they catch me and the brushes and the little blowy metal thing appears (the people call it a hairdryer). It is a monster of undoggy proportions.  Still it is warm and means that I get dry quickly, which is better when it is colder because I don’t freeze.

P1060727

After the hair drying I am brushed and then set loose on the world as a little fluffy monstrosity, me and my fluff are coming to get you. x

Boring

I have had such a boring week this week! We haven’t been anywhere different or anything fun.

Yes  I have had my favorite chews, and tripe sticks and the cats are nice enough to be around, (Bubbles is warm and fluffy), but I do wish my people could be here all the time.  What else can you do when they aren’t around?

My people have been working a lot this past week, I still get my walkies and I am still fed and played with, I just miss them a bit too much. They are my people I love them.  I show them I love them by wedging my head in between their legs till they cuddle me.

1175_10200394587415627_1655214658_n

They did promise that we’d go out this weekend though 😀

Verdin Park

After all these outing this weekend my people decided to relax a bit and just take me to our local park, I haven’t been for ages!  So pop down the road along the main road. I have to behave here and walk along side my person, or I get told off. Something to do with cars and me being squished, but lets not think of that.

P1060315

Then up on to the walkway above all of the cars. The park is on a big hill so you can watch the little people down below.

Anyway we walked along the walkway and on the left are a set of steps. A big set of steps, I had to bloody well jump up every step as though it was a hurdle! My person should have carried me, that is what they are for right?

P1060329

So up the steps and along quite a cute little path with benches (for the people tired from walking up them steps!) , and up and along.

P1060496

You get to quite a good field where you can have a run and a play. We met two big Weimaraner doggies, which I had a good little play with but I wasn’t to happy when one stepped on my tail and pulled out some fluff! That is my fluff we are talking about, why would they do such a thing. I wouldn’t play after that, the insult!

P1060489

When they had left, I had a ‘mad half hour’ as my people call it. Basically I have a thing about running wildly in circles around my person. It is just sooooooo much fun to feel the wind in your fluff. I mean look at that photo, doesn’t it seem great to you!

P1060339

We walked past some big guy, he was green and funny looking. I am told he was and old man that did some stuff for the town. Supposedly he brought  a human vets to town. Why you’d make a pretend him I don’t know. People are funny things.

Then it was back down the other side of the hill to the main gates of the park. (Aren’t they pretty?) There were that many flowers I had to have a sniff and a little wee (I bet the gardens don’t like me now).

P1060507

It was out the gates and back home after that. I did enjoy my day, and fortunately there was no lasting damage to my tail fluff.

P1060491x

Beeston Castle

P1060134

Beeston Castle is well a castle supposedly. All I was told is that some old guy may have buried some treasure here a very long time ago.  Though it wasn’t bones or chews so I don’t care really. Anyway, to get to the castle we first had to walk up a gigantic hill! A monster hill, the hill of all hills, basically a mountain for a short dog like me, I think I came down a few centimeters shorter too!

P1060166Halfway up we had to have a rest as my person isn’t the fittest of people, even the young skinny one agreed to a rest. I wanted to get going and get to the top as soon as possible so we could have our picnic.

P1060179

(Nearly there! There was a big ditch which I was going to walk down, but my people handily told me we could walk over a bridge)

P1060185

Once we got to the bridge and the main bit of the castle, (after our mountaineering) we had to have a look at where we had been. It is compulsory I tell you. (My people think this was the best photo of the day) I think they should rename the castle to Alfie’s castle, I mean how good do I look sat there on that bridge.

So we entered and had a walk around looking at the views and wondering what idiots would have tried to attack here. You can see for miles and miles. You can see the sea about 30 miles away and the mountain in Wales. That is a whole different country!

P1060204

I wasn’t allowed on the wall to see above it but I was told it was nice.

P1060172

Then after a while we had to stop I had hurt my paw and was limping a little. I was trying to tell my people there was something wrong but they couldn’t see it! They bend and twisted my paw but that wasn’t the problem, the silly things. So they let me carry on walking for a while till we sat down for a rest and they had another look. They found it this time! Some people had been cutting down plant on top of the hill and I had unknowingly stood on the head of a thistle OWCH! It was untangled from my foot fluff and I was happy once more.

P1060213

It was time for our picnic. My people had brought me my own special supply of ham and chicken, they ate more funky stuffs.

P1060245

Then it was back to the walking to walk around the base of the castle, we saw the caves and the catacombs and some scary thing I wouldn’t go into.

P1060214

It was time to go after all that walking, the castle was nice, but the hill of hills wasn’t.

It is nice to be able to go to places, with my people. If there are anymore doggy friendly places I’d like to know.
