Marbury Park

After a mini journey in the mini car, I got out and was at the PARK! Not the little park we visit all the time but the big park. The one always full of people, things to do and things to smell. It wasn’t five minutes before I found a brilliant batch of rabbit poop I had to be pulled away from. It was a shame I could have stayed there for ages. Still I had a walkies to get to.

P1060918

It is a nice wooded area that leads to a mere and a canal. So there are a lot of ducks about, sometimes I like duck but these were big ducks so we stayed well away from them. Our walk in the woods continued, I wanted it to be peaceful but there were so many people, we had to go a different way than our usual walk to stay away from them.

P1060937

There were just too many cyclists and children on their scooters, I was going to be squished if they weren’t careful! We found the place we were looking for which was quieter with only a few walkers and their dogs. Much less dangerous for a a mini pooch like me. My person got a little angry, I wont tell you what she said about them it wasn’t suitable for a young pooches ears.

P1060959

We came across the canal which is just a few miles up from where I live and we had a wander along there. We eventually turned back and went the way we came. I ended up with a few conkers in my fluff so we had to stop whilst they were plucked out. I can tell you there was a lot of pinching and poking going on. Conkers aren’t fun. They are spiky and mean. P1070053

After doing the long circuit I was allowed a play in the grass with a few friends. My person was taking photos and happened to snap a funny one. I am not too fond of it I am meant to be a dog! Not a rabbit hybrid thingamajig. Still it made everyone laugh so I guess I don’t mind. It is good making your people smile.

Arches

This weekend we went for a nice slow trundle along the arches. The family had come up on the Saturday and my buddy Joe was there too! I was so tired all of Saturday all I needed was a little walk on Sunday. DSC_0234It was later in the day so the sun was setting and and people must have been inside eating their Sunday dinner because we didn’t meet anyone. (Ours was still being cooked). We went across both rivers and walked past the pub, and on toward the arches.

DSC_0239

We would have stopped at the pub but we were going home to our tea, so we stayed away.

DSC_0255

We went past the funky waterfall thing (my person said it is called a weir and stops the river from flooding the town). I don’t particularly like being near it, it makes a horrible wooshy, crashy noise, which is really loud and scary. But we don’t linger long, so it is okay.

DSC_0250

We get as far as they arches and they are huge! The trains go across them and I used to be a bit scared but now they aren’t too bad. I guess I go used to them. Trains are still scary though, the big rumbly metal things.

DSC_0272

Still we go along the walk and keep walking till we get to a dog training area. My people and I used this area to teach me to be off lead. It was a nice place and I wanted to go back and have a look, but I wasn’t allowed as someone was using it and I would have distracted the other doggy there.

DSC_0275

So instead I had a sniff around at the leaves, I found something really smelly, though I don’t know what it was it was nice. I stayed there for about 5 minutes before I wanted to carry on walking.

We trundled back home, keeping the pace nice and slow. It was only a little adventure, though it was a nice one.

Hopefully this weekend we can go on a bigger adventure!

Blackberry Picking

P1060834

Is is officially the end of summer basically and the blackberries are out in force!

P1060837

I don’t really like blackberries to be honest, strawberries are an altogether different thing though. But my people didn’t take me strawberry picking, they took me blackberry picking.  So we walked down our usual route till we found the ‘bestest spot ever’, according to them.

P1060832

We stopped, dropped our stuff ans starting picking. What I learned is that people seem to be hurt by the plants, I stuck my face in them like usual and they didn’t do a thing!  Does any other doggy get stung by nettles? I know my ear fluff gets caught in the brambles and I have to bark to let my people know, so that they can come and untangle me.

P1060822

Well I had fun running around and playing with the cut grass. My people picked a whole tub full of blackberries, their hands got covered in pink stuff

+and so did my leg! I was pink for a little bit, till they washed it off. I don’t really want to be pink, I’d like to be white please.

Verdin Park

After all these outing this weekend my people decided to relax a bit and just take me to our local park, I haven’t been for ages!  So pop down the road along the main road. I have to behave here and walk along side my person, or I get told off. Something to do with cars and me being squished, but lets not think of that.

P1060315

Then up on to the walkway above all of the cars. The park is on a big hill so you can watch the little people down below.

Anyway we walked along the walkway and on the left are a set of steps. A big set of steps, I had to bloody well jump up every step as though it was a hurdle! My person should have carried me, that is what they are for right?

P1060329

So up the steps and along quite a cute little path with benches (for the people tired from walking up them steps!) , and up and along.

P1060496

You get to quite a good field where you can have a run and a play. We met two big Weimaraner doggies, which I had a good little play with but I wasn’t to happy when one stepped on my tail and pulled out some fluff! That is my fluff we are talking about, why would they do such a thing. I wouldn’t play after that, the insult!

P1060489

When they had left, I had a ‘mad half hour’ as my people call it. Basically I have a thing about running wildly in circles around my person. It is just sooooooo much fun to feel the wind in your fluff. I mean look at that photo, doesn’t it seem great to you!

P1060339

We walked past some big guy, he was green and funny looking. I am told he was and old man that did some stuff for the town. Supposedly he brought  a human vets to town. Why you’d make a pretend him I don’t know. People are funny things.

Then it was back down the other side of the hill to the main gates of the park. (Aren’t they pretty?) There were that many flowers I had to have a sniff and a little wee (I bet the gardens don’t like me now).

P1060507

It was out the gates and back home after that. I did enjoy my day, and fortunately there was no lasting damage to my tail fluff.

Beeston Castle

P1060134

Beeston Castle is well a castle supposedly. All I was told is that some old guy may have buried some treasure here a very long time ago.  Though it wasn’t bones or chews so I don’t care really. Anyway, to get to the castle we first had to walk up a gigantic hill! A monster hill, the hill of all hills, basically a mountain for a short dog like me, I think I came down a few centimeters shorter too!

P1060166Halfway up we had to have a rest as my person isn’t the fittest of people, even the young skinny one agreed to a rest. I wanted to get going and get to the top as soon as possible so we could have our picnic.

P1060179

(Nearly there! There was a big ditch which I was going to walk down, but my people handily told me we could walk over a bridge)

P1060185

Once we got to the bridge and the main bit of the castle, (after our mountaineering) we had to have a look at where we had been. It is compulsory I tell you. (My people think this was the best photo of the day) I think they should rename the castle to Alfie’s castle, I mean how good do I look sat there on that bridge.

So we entered and had a walk around looking at the views and wondering what idiots would have tried to attack here. You can see for miles and miles. You can see the sea about 30 miles away and the mountain in Wales. That is a whole different country!

P1060204

I wasn’t allowed on the wall to see above it but I was told it was nice.

P1060172

Then after a while we had to stop I had hurt my paw and was limping a little. I was trying to tell my people there was something wrong but they couldn’t see it! They bend and twisted my paw but that wasn’t the problem, the silly things. So they let me carry on walking for a while till we sat down for a rest and they had another look. They found it this time! Some people had been cutting down plant on top of the hill and I had unknowingly stood on the head of a thistle OWCH! It was untangled from my foot fluff and I was happy once more.

P1060213

It was time for our picnic. My people had brought me my own special supply of ham and chicken, they ate more funky stuffs.

P1060245

Then it was back to the walking to walk around the base of the castle, we saw the caves and the catacombs and some scary thing I wouldn’t go into.

P1060214

It was time to go after all that walking, the castle was nice, but the hill of hills wasn’t.

It is nice to be able to go to places, with my people. If there are anymore doggy friendly places I’d like to know.
