Blackberry Picking

P1060834

Is is officially the end of summer basically and the blackberries are out in force!

P1060837

I don’t really like blackberries to be honest, strawberries are an altogether different thing though. But my people didn’t take me strawberry picking, they took me blackberry picking.  So we walked down our usual route till we found the ‘bestest spot ever’, according to them.

P1060832

We stopped, dropped our stuff ans starting picking. What I learned is that people seem to be hurt by the plants, I stuck my face in them like usual and they didn’t do a thing!  Does any other doggy get stung by nettles? I know my ear fluff gets caught in the brambles and I have to bark to let my people know, so that they can come and untangle me.

P1060822

Well I had fun running around and playing with the cut grass. My people picked a whole tub full of blackberries, their hands got covered in pink stuff

+and so did my leg! I was pink for a little bit, till they washed it off. I don’t really want to be pink, I’d like to be white please.

FoAM Picnic and Meeting Lula

“It is often said that the Papillon is a big dog in a little dog’s body. They can do virtually all that a larger dog can do, but with less effort, upkeep, and space requirements” I don’t remember where I found this quote but I liked it. Anyway …. I recently went to a musical picnic with my family, and a friend of theirs. This is Lula (or Talula if you want her full name), she is a fuzzy little Miniature  Schnauzer.

P1050993

I met Lula after just getting out of teeny metal box, and she was a little grumpy, and had a good bark at me. I ignored her and was ready to go and get walking! We didn’t walk too far till everyone stopped and decided it was resting time! (That was a quick walk I tell you!) My people set our a mat and started getting out a lot of food. So I didn’t mind the stopping so early in to my walk.

P1050973

We just sat and had a nice something to eat whilst my people chatted and I met other doggies. Lula was nice although she looked more like a boy than I do with that beard, I think she was jealous of my pretty looks.

She barked a little too much too, there was no need to keep woofing, I was slightly embarrassed to tell the truth. And my people LIKED her. That isn’t fair I say, they are my people, you can’t just go stealing my people.

P1050908

Anyway she sat at one end of the mat and I sat at the other end. The picnic included Bacon, which was great, did I tell you how good bacon is? Well it’s good. After my bacon (and some strawberries). We went on a little walk around the area, it was a nice stretch and to walk off some one the bacon podge I am sure I had put on. I did feel a little better when her person told her that she wasn’t allowed any of the nice foods, because if she ate them she wouldn’t eat her doggy biscuits.

P1050932

With music playing and quite a few dogs about. I made a few new friends, and so did my people. It was a good day, the music was a bit strange but there seemed to be a lot going on.

P1050927

The park is a nice place to be but we shall save the rest of it for another day, today was picnic day.

Norton Priory

As a day out my whole pack of people (myself included) went for a look at Norton Priory. Now it was nice to be able to go somewhere with the family because normally I have to be left at home with them felines! So a 30 minute journey in the car and we were there.

P1050696

At first my people were worried about taking em through the information centre, but after paying for our tickets and talking to a lovely old dear, she told us that the ‘little doggie’ could go anywhere at all. The only restriction was that I had to sit in the outside area of the cafe. Any being a lovely sunny day who would mind that!

P1050640

My person tried to take some photo’s inside the centre but it was so dark they didn’t turn out to well. According to the people there this was a religious site, whatever that is. My people like them because they like history.

P1050668

I met a lovely poodle too she was a nice black fluffy girl (I forgot her name) I had a good play with her before we went outside. It is a very interesting thing and the smells were brilliant! There was an ‘undercroft’ (whatever that is) but on this really warm day is was lovely and cool. My person told me it was where all the food and drink was stored but I couldn’t find any.

We then ventured outside to see the ruins of the rest of the priory which were brilliantly fun. I was even allowed off my lead for a little bit!

P1050674

There were such smells and sights to see! I ran around jumping up and over the small walls. They were once huge walls that some funny bald looking people lived in. My person says they look like her dad! After having a wander round the ruins we found you could also walk round the grounds where a mini sculpture park was installed.

P1050687

We walked to the canal and back looking at the many things around.

After such a trying walkies we just had to stop in the cafe for a refresher! I was allowed a bit of crumpet and some doggie biscuits that were fetched from home for me. We went on to the walled gardens, which sadly I wasn’t allowed in. The lady at the desk wasn’t sure why she said it might be because I could ‘tinkle’ on the expensive plants. So my people had to take it in turns.

Then onto the little stables where they now have chickens. I like the chickens and whilst my people were walking round the stables, (where apparently the gardeners lived above) , I just sat and had a rest while I watched them.

It was a nice day, we even went out for some tea afterwards!

(Note from Human)

If you have a dog, like history and live (or are visiting)  in the Cheshire area please check this out! The people were lovely, they offered a bowl of water to Alfie and even offered to seat us inside the cafe if the weather turned. They were brilliant, accommodating and just lovely. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with children or dogs.

Cheshire Show Trip

Every June my family and I travel to the Cheshire County Show, it is about 15 minutes drive away in a huge field called the Tabley Showground.

DSCN5502

It is mainly an agricultural fair but it has food and shows and well lots of good things going on. It is a great day out for all of us doggies included. I am allowed everywhere apart from the small animal and food tents.

DSCN5530

They think I will chase the animals … me! I don’t chase things, I might taste them a little but I wont chase them! Although I am not allowed in the food tent, my people always bring me out a special treat. a but of bacon or sausage or if I am very good a teeny bit of cheese!

DSCN0998

Anyway when we arrived it was a bit dull and dreary we were expecting a classic British weather. My people had packed their coats (including mine), but were hoping the weather stayed nice. I can say that it was the most glorious day I have seen in a while. We started with a breakfast bacon butty, I sat under the table and nicked bits of the juicy bacony goodness. (Did I tell you bacon is great). We then had a walk around meeting dogs galore.

DSCN0974

This is me begging for bacon

Onto the food tent. my people take it in turns going it because I have to sit outside. Still every person leaves with either a burger or hot dog and I got a little bit of each!

We watched the shire horse parade, and the children showing the goats, them people on bikes jumping over stuff and I met a lady police dog I was very fond of; we even spotted royalty from afar!

I do love this day.
